I fear software developers are beginning to utilize marketing techniques where they hide thing and make thing obscure in order to make you use their software longer. Thus, they can get you to stare at their shitware longer in hopes you will feel more attached to it, due to having a longer time investment during the learning curve. This results in hipsters feeling superior to other people who won't invest the unneeded time, and also increases the chance that they will continue to use the crapware, since they are heavily invested in it.
