Curious if anyone's played with this particularly on 9x?
http://www.nongnu.org/wined3d/It can implement versions of Direct3D for Windows versions that Microsoft doesn't want to support (e.g. D3D10 on XP/2000/9x).
I see someone filed a bug at Wine:

Third party apps are not supported here. Ask for help from whoever created those packages...
I note that the bug mentions DxDiag, which, of course, isn't part of that package. Perhaps it would be best not to have DirectX installed on the test machine? I don't know.
