Oh lawd, I forgot about this classic:

It was an internet 'humor' site. Still is, I guess. That word may be used somewhat loosely in context of SomethingAwful and Lowtax. There were moments though. I remember the 'fight' with Uwe Boll:

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2006/09/5396/
Uwe Boll continues on his quest to beat up his critics, and Lowtax of SomethingAwful.com fame happened to be on the chopping block. In that confrontation I really don't know who to root for, but I am comforted by the fact that no matter who loses, the viewer wins.

For some reason this always sticks out in my head (perhaps its intentional mocking of all those AWFUL ITT commercials from back in the day):

That's from a YT channel that lowtax ran, I think the latest vidya is from less than a week ago...

moot (of 4chan fame/infamy) frequented there before starting 4chan. There's stories of him promoting 4chan and getting flooded with 'I can haz a cheeseburger memes/images. As a matter of fact, 4chan currently has a little 'tribute' on it's site:

A bit tasteless after seeing his wife's post, but that's our 4chan. You know 4chan the hacker CNN told you about.

Photoshop Phriday could be fun at times...

Anywho, SomethingAwful isn't nearly as popular as it was, but for the curious, a good bit of the old stuff is still there. Lowtax was still around until, well, you know and had a bit of a following. He was a moderately successful internet personality who influenced what the web became.

I've heard of those forums years ago but never used it or was on it, not sure if it's tech forums or not but very sad story for the families nevertheless.

One of the more influential figures of the turn-of-the-millennium internet has died. According to Kotaku, former Something Awful forum moderator Fragmaster has revealed that site founder Richard "Lowtax" Kyanka has died at 45. Fragmaster didn't ask for details surrounding the death, but Kyanka's second wife later said the creator committed suicide.
