Pretty interesting, it's one of the few things that they haven't redesigned to be big and gaudy! But I'd guess that's because MS has already created a touch-friendly Metro version of IE, so no special tinkering with desktop IE is necessary. (That work was done for IE9.)

Super tiny buttons of Internet Explorer.

These things are so tiny, you can barely hit them with the mouse these days when 90% of the computer users have big flat screens. These buttons are foolishly designed, of course.
