I think I know what you mean and you may have misconception about it. You have an option of whether or not your machine is an exit node, at least in the versions I've tried out. Living in the States, I certainly would refrain from doing so.

I don't think I have ever tried Tor. There is something about Tor that just rubs me the wrong way. The idea that it shares stuff / data, which I have no clue what they are, from out of my connection. Maybe I'm too much of a chicken shit but it scares me too much to be able to use it. :oops:
