Ignorance is bliss

Ignorance is bliss. Considering the site is called fools design. I can only imagine this being a site for fools to discuss design. Of which none of the content seems to be about design in the first place. I do not understand what motivates these people, or why they aren't working on something inter...

Windows 8 dislikes more than one instance of an application

Fool's design. Windows 8 dislikes more than one instance of an application. If you try to start several instances of any program from the start screen, be it Paint or Remote Desktop Connection, it will fail. It takes you to the instance which is currently running. After all, why would you start more...

Wonderful world of Windows 8 basic theme, active windows

Fool's design.

Try telling which window is active. That's right, you can't!

...Wait until the day comes when we shift to discrete LED's in our monitors (rather than LCD phased backlighting). This will be a throwback to CRT methodology, where it costs more to make white than black and all the Windows 8 conventions get flushed right down the toilet bowl. By Microsoft's "...

What he basically suggests is to not use a windowed Remote Desktop session and always go to full screen when connecting to a Remote Desktop session. Completely ludicrous.

We have installed 2k12 just for the ReFS file system. We feel it is a lot faster. We use 2k12 on our main machine and we got several Hyper-V virtual machines inside it and we also game on it outside the Hyper-V virtual machines. One thing we noticed was that a game ARMA 2 takes 12 seconds to load in...

Active buttons in Windows 8, a mind trick

Fool's design.

Active buttons in Windows 8, a mind trick.

What kind of "designer" uses a light blue ONE PIXEL THIN line to mark a light gray button as currenly active?
That's right. Not a sane designer but only a fool.

The butchering of Office 2013 - Outlook reminder pop-up

Fool's design. There was too little free white space in the dialog so they decided to cut out the open button to free up some more white space. After all, a hidden double-click is a much better way to confuse the users. Ultimate goal is to just have a white window with nothing inside it. Design 101 ...
