Yeah, it looks complicated because it needs a few directives and variable initializations before doing its job. It's a programming language, a derivate of AutoIt that uses built-in macros. It can work around errors or limitations, a graphical interface can easily be build and allows a much better interaction with the user.

The scripts can be compiled and they would then be standalone executables. The method I suggested was meant to avoid script compilation so they could easily be changed as needed (on your side or user's). But yes, the AHK executable would have to be deployed on every machine in order for the scripts to run uncompiled. AHK is open-source anyway (here's a link to a page containing older 9x-compatible versions: http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/8 ... -versions/ ).

The DLL comparison toy I built for you some time ago is written in AHK. I have many other small applications but my online host (FileDen) was killed and I don't feel like using another (temporary) host with all the hassle and eventually dead links.

I noticed ihe IPsec VPN client fixes hang on shutdown with Broadcom Gbit ethernet drivers ! Normally I would have had to release the IP prior to shutdown or restart or the machine would hang, btu that is no longer needed with the client installed :)

I suggest Draw 98 as a potential add-on for the USP.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/181154

I had to manually extract the files and put them in the same directory as Word. It allows me to draw some decent diagrams. Could be optional. ;)

NOTE: See the related article on the link above.

Hi,

I appreciate all the work you have done to make this service pack 3.29. I plan to use it, but I am just a bit confused. I read that one should not use Internet Explorer if he installs any core options (whatever they are), but on the download page the third option on the installation instructions is to install Internet Explorer.

I do not plan to use the internet with Windows 98 Second Edition, but I do have some data saved as web pages. So it would be nice to have Internet Explorer available.

Would you be so kind as to enlighten me as to the options in regard to Internet Explorer?

Cordially,
Bruce

The Core Options are only there if you have a windows installation with IE totally removed from it. Installing those options on a machine with IE present will cause major problems.

I just sent an email to Majorgeeks and they updated to 3.29. Sorry, a little slow with that one. I got a request from them:

... I hope you can list us as a download site.

I don't see why this would be an issue, especially since they probably throw a little traffic this way with their link here. As you can see by the number of downloads the Service Pack is a fairly popular download there :D
