You seem to be the only one having this problem. I'm going to assume that you haven't followed the instructions I gave above. So I will no longer waste my time looking into this. There are no accidents in SP3. Everything is there by choice.

I *did* try deleting the ShellIconCache in safe mode and also from DOS, and even re-extracted the file shell32.dll from sp3.cab, and still noticed the icon problem? (also redownloaded the SP3 to make sure it wasn't corrupted in transfer)

I only discovered this few days ago. Never knew anyone was still providing updates for Windows 98 SE. So I installed Windows 98 SE on VMware and installed your SP 3.33 and all installed and worked with no trouble at all. Just one thing since Kernelex isn't updated anymore since 3 years ago and many programs now won't work even with Kernelex. Is it possible for you to add something in your SP to make current programs work. If it not possible I understand.

There is some threads going over @ MSFN that you should be aware of as far as extending KernelEx, look for their threads regarding "DIY KernelEx extensions" and " UPXing Compatibility".

Didn't know Kernelex had options apart from compatibility modes
