Do you know what Install Separately means?

Install Separately means, Install by itself and NOT with other options.

Currently having a nightmare when it comes to the USB2.0 Stack. I've posted the thread and details here: http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/172215- ... -problems/

@StrikerMan780,

Are you some kind of moron? Linking to a ONE post thread which you just created in another forum? How about just post your fucking issue right in here, which is the OFFICIAL thread for the SP?

What a fool! :crazy:

I'm going to be real nice and cache your post in HERE because I am 99% certain that PROBLEMCHYLD will be answering your questions in HERE and NOT on MSFN.

Whenever I install Windows 98SE, install DirectX 9.0c, and then the Unofficial Service Pack 3 and reboot, things seem to be fine, however some USB Devices won't work until I install the USB 2.0 stack (from USBStack.exe that U98SESP3 puts into /windows/system/).

But now, the problem is, once I install that, and reboot, my Windows 98 hangs on boot if there are any USB Devices plugged in. If I leave them unplugged, it boots fine. Once I plug everything back in, I get an NTKERN.VXD error, and the devices still do not work. I fixed the NTKERN.VXD error by copying NTKERN.VXD from /VMM32 into /System, however, the hang on boot is still there.

I have no way of uninstalling the USB2.0 Stack from Add/Remove Programs, and I have no clue how to solve my current problems. I think I might have f***ed up too by not deleting the right files/infs before installing USBStack.exe. I want to get rid of the thing entirely and fix this problem, and perhaps install NUSB instead, but I don't know where I should begin.

*sigh* I'm really getting p***ed off and stressed with this thing. I've already spent an entire week trying to figure this out... time wasted when I could be actually using a functional system and doing something productive.

Is there anyone out there who can help me sort this problem out?

Being an asshole like that was completely unwarranted.

Oh, did I offend you?
I hope that I did because what you did was completely moronic... but hey, that's just me. :mrgreen:

@StrikerMan780,

:idea: Just making sure you understand WHY your action was foolish:

  1. You ignored the OFFICIAL discussion thread which is posted on http://www.htasoft.com/u98sesp, a direct link to this place.
  2. You go to some random forum, post your problem in there.
  3. Then you come to the OFFICIAL discussion thread and post a LINK back to that random forum.
  4. Which by the way, has only ONE post from yourself.
  5. Instead of just copying your ONE post in here.
Like, you went to Domino's pizza and left a note there that you needed help with your car. Then you went to your car mechanic and told him there is a note about your problem in Domino's pizza a few blocks away, asking him to go there and read it, then come back and fix your car for you.

GET IT?

As a side note, I have NOTHING to do with the SP.
Please await response from PROBLEMCHYLD for your issues.

:!:

Thanks.

Not offended, just annoyed. Making a big fucking stink and calling someone a moron and a fool as a knee-jerk reaction over something so trivial, is more than a little bit dickish, demeaning, and borderline childish.

Going by the post you've linked, you have quite a beef with MSFN. Please don't lump me into that BS, as I've only just registered there today, I have no part in whatever affairs that might have occurred to piss you off.

With that said, I initially posted there to see if someone would be willing to help me with my problem, not just PROBLEMCHYLD, as I presumed there may be a good number of knowledgeable users there who could point me in the right direction. I wasn't sure if PROBLEMCHYLD posted there or not, but it didn't hurt to at least ask for help from others and use all the resources available to me. (Not everyone here goes to MSFN, and not all MSFN users go here)

By the way, It's a single-post thread because it was only recently posted, and nobody has replied yet. I linked to the thread here considering this is the official thread for the service pack, and I didn't copy-paste the entire post as there's not much sense duplicating what was already said. I never even once expected PROBLEMCHYLD to respond on MSFN, I'm totally fine with him responding here, but you assumed otherwise and called me a fucking moron over it.

...so you DID write a note at Domino's? ...and you DID tell your car mechanic to go read it at Domino's? ...and you DID want him to walk back from Domino's and fix your car over here instead?

It's great when you, yourself, admit that you indeed... ARE a moron. :thumbup:

Did you go to safe mode and remove all the USB drivers in Device Manager? You can't move forward if you don't do that. What type of USB chipset you have? VIA, SiS, Intel etc... I need more info.

I have trimmed off 1.38 MB from the SP, by removing redundant files. I put Resource Hacker to work over the weekend. Since I'm not updating the .CHM file, people are going have to read what's already documented. 79.5 MB is the new size. I have done a lot of cleaning up. This version should be as smooth as ever :razz: Coming soon.......... :cool:
