@RFMaster,

Did you write that patcher yourself? I that's the case, I was thinking of attaching the zip file to your post as a backup.

I mean, a patcher which you wrote yourself, isn't considered warez, right?

How does the existing file (VMM32.vxd) that any given win-98 system has differ from the default or standard VMM32.vxd on the Windows CD? Would it not be "better" to patch the existing VMM32.vxd (and call the result VMM.vxd and throw it in windowssystemvmm32 ?

This is to replace german version of vmm.vxd file...
yes it can boot with over 1GB. but only if you have vmm32.vxd from german patch in your system folder

second file from german patch -> vmm32.vxd is complicated and requires more work to make patch for...

No. It is not warez, it doesn't contain any MS$ files in it.

Give it time 98 Guy. RFMaster or someone else will probably get to the point where it could be made more generic. Be grateful RFMaster is on the case, doing the hard part! ::thumbup::

Then I will go ahead and attach it to your post. If you make any updates to it, please feel free to attach it in here.

Excellent job by the way! ::clap::

Where does G-VMM Patcher.exe look for VMM32.VXD to patch and create VMM.vxd? Does it look in the same directory that it's being run from?

So I used it on VMM32.vxd (475,084 bytes, April 23, 1999) and it created VMM.vxd (341,548 bytes). Does that seem right?

Yea, but isin't the current VMM32.vxd "better" than the original? (be better, I mean it is more suitable, optimal or correct for the system's current configuration vs the default file on the CD).

I'm not doubting or criticizing the patch - I know it's probably a lot more difficult to patch the existing vmm32.vxd vs the default / standard one on the CD. I think that the VMM32.vxd is generated by Windows dynamically so I guess if you start back with the default file, and patch it, and then boot windows it will re-engineer or rebuild the file as it needs to, but this time the patch will be in place. ?

I, user.

Any chance of getting the source code for the patcher as well? :oops:
