Hi PROBLEMCHYLD,

I had been testing USP3.53 for a while. I stumbled on a bug that may be interesting to some users.

When I try to install PWS from the Windows 98 SE CD-ROM (D:add-onspwssetup.exe) the following message appears:

"Unable to run D:add-onspwssysocmgr.exe"

When I try to execute D:add-onspwssysocmgr.exe the following message appears:

Have tested it after installing Main updates only on a fresh Windows 98 SE installation.

This specific sysocmgr.exe is part of PWS 4.0 (Personal Web Server), and should run in Windows 98 SE (I have tested it on clean install).

It's not a serious issue anyway, just some API calls from the ocmanage.dll seem to be missing.
Anyway, who uses PWS 4.0 nowadays? ;)

Hello. I recently did a project trying to get Windows 98SE to work on a laptop where the drivers weren't supported. I then saw this, figuring it as a means to update that that install has high up as possible. I did so, but now performing common tasks won't work.
Things that won't work for the following reason: Opening My Computer, Recycle Bin, Typing in Explorer Address Bar, Upping directories to where My Computer would be.
Possible reason: Always with these errors, there it says that the program (explorer) performed an illegal operation and must be shut down. Clicking details shows me it had to with "an invalid page fault in (either shell32.dll or kernel32.dll)"
Annoying bug: Saving something in Control Panel changes it successfully, but then it says it couldn't save some .CPL file and closes.
Please reply, as I have this in a dual boot with XP Embedded POSReady2009 and I don't want to go through another reinstall!

I'm just going to reinstall after backing up files via the XP installation. For the future, however, please reply to my previous post. Thanks for any help you may give.

Not sure what issues you are having, but I'm not using Windows 98 atm. Haven't upgraded SP in a few months. That should tell you something. Once I get my new computer it's goodbye Windows. I'm going Linux all the way. Your problem is not clear to me, not sure how I can help.

Hm, so just a question: Will you continue to develop USP3 after you switch to Linux? Maybe via Virtual Machine testing and using? This to me is a great project and has been really helpful. If no, then can you iron out whatever leftover bugs remain in USP3 and continue to host the site? If not, if I ever get my server working, I'd be glad to host it for you (I can't develop it, barely beginning in programming .-.).
I'll test out different configurations, as all I want in USP3 is that 2k/ME Icon theme, Official/Unofficial updates, and DirectX9c (Which are all included. I'm testing in a VM so I can see if that error comes up again).

Thanks for the reply and making this whole thing!
