Could I trouble anyone for the latest (however old that may be) version of USB20DRV.EXE? For USB2 on Windows ME. Or is there something that superseded it?

I don't have it (never had) but maybe PROBLEMCHYLD or Steven W got a copy of it. It seems a bit problematic though, maybe.

If it's a problem for anyone, don't worry. Or did you mean that it doesn't work that well? If it's the latter I still wouldn't mind trying.

PROBLEMCHYLD is a bit busy lately for private reasons. But I'm not sure if he has a copy, he has a major disaster and lost his scripts, files, laptop, everything and there were no backups elsewhere, sadly. He said he might one day rebuilding the stuff he lost, hopefully, he can in the future.

Oh, major bummer. Here's hoping it didn't hit him to bad.
