Seems microsoft actually fulfilled their promise of dropping all old Skype versions... They said so for MSN too but MSN stuff works so I thought Skype will be safe but seems not...
I have been using version 3.8 as it doesn't suck life out the machine nor is it big and annoying like newer stuff.
It seems there's no alternatives either and I am most definitely not looking forward to using any of the newer versions...

Live Messenger, now that doesn't, but all the 3rd party programs compatible with MSN do work. If you joined your Skype and MSN accounts you are out of luck though... I never did, so MSN lives on here hahahaha.
Some days ago a friends howed a trick to get 6.0 run, and today 6.0 stopped running... back to the latest and not so greatest version. It is so terribly slow on XP and has a memory leak, 210MBytes used already and it hasn't been doing anything
