http://uncrunched.com/2014/06/17/micros ... -explorer/

I have to commend the guy for pointing this out, although part of his blog entry strikes me as a little naive:

Why in the world is Microsoft (through an agency) trying pay bloggers to write about Internet Explorer? Do people still do this?

Microsoft does indeed engage in this and other even slimier actions. Many of them through third parties.

Hint: Take a good long look at how OOXML got to be an ISO certified "standard", that would be good for starters.

I got a little curious about the URL mentioned in the request he received:

IE is so lame, it isn't even funny. I very much dislike that thing. Super UNcustomizable. Reinstalling Windows will fuck your passwords and other data up. It's locked into the operating system and you can't install it separately and its data is so tied into the Windows user account that it is just way too dangerous using it. Data loss risk is MASSIVE!

Opera was nice but now I use FireFox. Anyone who is running an old Opera and upgrades to the latest Opera version will see what I mean. Those bastards basically killed off Opera.

Oh, please don't get me started on Opera!

Some of you probably are aware that a petition was started for the purpose of of convincing the powers-that-be to open source the Presto Rendering Engine (essentially Old Opera):

http://www.change.org/petitions/opera-s ... sto-engine

One site says it's being considered, but according to Hakon Wium Lie, it won't happen soon:

Yeah, please wait until it's so antiquated that it's useless!

The engine is just what renders everything. They could have changed the engine without the users even noticing it. But nooo, they had to fuck everything up! They removed almost all functionality which made Opera, Opera.

They are fucking crazy. It's just like what Microsoft did to Windows in 8.x. It's like... they are quitting the business, shutting down the shop and moving out.

Perhaps some day, I will make my own FireFox fork and make it similar to the old "good" Opera or something. Been pondering it a while now.
