Going a bit off-topic now but I tried installing FreeBSD in Hyper-V to try it out. They had this ready made distro so it was just download and run. Supposed to be a clean install but when I did some looking around in the files, I found games in it. Stupid text based games. Not that such games are stupid but I mean what the fuck? I kind'a lost trust in their "clean ready to go installation" to be honest.
I will give it a second try but this time, I will try a true clean install myself, from scratch to see if things are different or not... ...another big issue I have with Linux or *BSD is the file system. I really do trust NTFS. It has never failed me. Although, due to
"bit rot", it is somewhat unwise to use NTFS these days so I use ReFS. It supposed to keep things correct all the time. ReFS doesn't even need a "chkdsk" (check disk) so if you try to run check disk on it, it won't work.
I wonder if the Linux or *BSD world has similar file systems? I heard about ZFS but it doesn't seem to be hm, 1.0 yet? Or am I wrong? I don't know why I have a feeling things are always in "beta" mode in that world.
My third issue is of course, Outlook. NOTHING beats Outlook. My email file is almost 9GB! It's a HUGE database of MANY MANY MANY emails and files. I cannot afford losing it! I wonder if there is any such email application in the *nix world?
Then of course, nothing beats Visual Studio so there is that.
So far, I haven't really convince myself to switch to Linux or *BSD due to the above issues but you never know. I basically have one foot our of the door in Windows world. With Windows 10, I almost made the jump but then I managed to turn all the spyware off (because I happen to have an Enterprise edition) but really, Microsoft is pushing their luck, at least with me.
