We have sent out this mass email to all the members.

 Obviously, you cannot "reply to this email" from here but you can of course speak back right beneath this thread.

Dear members,

We will have a temporarily shutdown of foolsdesign.org Web site, most likely between 2013-10-20 to 2013-10-21. During this 48 hours time period, you will not be able to reach the Web site at all but please do NOT panic!

The reason for the shutdown is to test our bandwidth usage. There are no other reasons for this other than testing the bandwidth usage. We hope that we will be around for a long time but our server has started to eat a lot of GB of data each day and we need to see if this is from this Web site or other sites hosted on this server.

For the record, we currently do have unlimited bandwidth for our two servers which are hosted on two separate 1Gbps line but it is important for us to know what exactly is eating our bandwidth.

..and YES, we are aware that this is a very foolish way to test what is eating the server bandwidth (!) but in order to save time and money, this is the most simple way we came up with.

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience this may cause you.

You may reply directly to this email in case you need to do some yelling at us for this downtime. ;)

Thank you,

/regards

You're talking about bandwidth, not storage right? I wouldn't be surprised if it is a kind of DDOS just to soak the bandwidth and incur charges. I wouldn't put it past the fanboys these days. They could implement it by hitting the picture heavy threads constantly just to make the site expensive.

Good luck finding the leak.

Yes, it is the bandwidth. We do have unlimited bandwidth but still, we need to find out if it's this Web site or the other ones which are hosted on this server.

The bandwidth test has now been completed. Our apologies for the inconvenience. We are glad to announce that the Web site was not under attack. The bandwidth was being eaten by another Web site hosted on the same server.

This thread will be archived.

Thank you.
