Charlotte is indeed quite the wordsmith. I can totally relate to what you're saying too, Charlotte. I have a feeling that, like me, you've seen this overall decline during your lifetime. You mentioned TV, I clearly recall, as a teenager, sitting in the living room of my childhood home, watching TV with my mother and seeing a condom commercial (one of the first). I wanted to squirm out of my skin. That seems minor in comparison to more modern commercials. I nearly lost it when I began seeing men and women standing in front of the camera and proudly declaring to the world that they have genital herpes. I couldn't decide what was more ludicrous, the fact that the commercial itself was considered acceptable, or the fact that, apparently, enough people have the condition that drug manufacturers considered the air-time worthwhile.

And yeah, I get it. It permeates society at large.
