All good... mmm, but why isn't poster '98 Guy' shown in the members list?

He means this post.

@EMPTORXC,

If you read the About section, it is explained there very clearly. It is actually rule number one and in bold! :D

We do allow non-registered visitors to create and reply to topics. If you do not plan to stay long, no need to register yourself.

There is also a big fat juicy blue note upon registration about it :lol: ...because we do not want or need junk accounts in here.
Basically, none registered users can reply and choose a nickname but they will not be listed in the "Members" section.

Ahhh, "!", your Red Hot Poker of Unlove has rightly educated me....
- I previously thought visitors would simply have a name of 'Guest' (like here);
http://www.foolsdesign.org/viewtopic.ph ... #page-body
(plus whenever I see the name '98 Guy', the word 'Banned' naturally
presents itself in my thought processes... it's a word association type of thing...
so I feared the worst [ after all, I was probably the first person to be
banneddelisted from this Board because it was feared I wasn't human...])
Cheers

We know that you know but everyone else doesn't know so a short explanation from our side is in order here.

You where never banned. Your account was mistakenly deleted by us because you replied to our email a little late and we thought that it was a bot account. We have since then, altered our waiting period to almost 10 days with several reminders to make sure what happened to you don't happen to anyone else. :oops:

As you correctly stated, "anonymous" users are able to choose a nickname here and are not automatically forced to be named "guest". Of course, two different individuals can choose the same nickname as an "anonymous" poster so the only way to reserve your nickname is to be a member.

We do not force people to register in order to speak because we hate that practice. We are not in the business of gathering people's emails either. If you are just passing by and feel like writing a line or two, sure, why not! We don't need someone's blood in order to allow the person to post in here. :lol: It will also help preventing the creation of junk accounts and we hope that those people who do become members here, actually DO like this Web site because they were never forced to sign up in order to be able to post, download or read something.

Your "natural thought process" of being reminded of a banned user when you aren't able to click on an "anonymous" poster's nickname is fully understandable, however. You need not to worry in here about being banned. We are upfront about everything in here, even our "Operating costs". If you look more closely at our rules in the "About" section, you will see this line:

There will not be a sword of Damacles hanging over threads created by users in here. Speak freely!

Which basically means that you can say "fuck", you can have a completely different opinion than us and hell, you can even hate us! In short, you can speak freely without the fear of being banned. So, have no worries and enjoy the ride! :relaxed:
