Classic marketing technique where lots of different ethnicities are shown. It's not that the company actually cares about equal treatment; it's that they care how they're viewed by the public.

Ha, ha, ha, - first I'm like "Whaa? Some idiots been watching re-runs of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"??
then it's like "Oooohhhh, now I get it....."
Incidently, they're published by 'Cengage Learning', a U.S. company with over 2 Billion
in revenue that filled for Bankruptcy in 2013... wiki page and all...
apparently some of those are required textbook(s) in certain institutions....
