Some of you may know, I just bought an Xbox 360 for Movies and Classic TV shows. I only have a 4GB HD but will probably upgrade to 500GB soon. I have about 1000 DVD movies and want them all ripped on the 500GB HD. What is the quickest way and best program to use. I don't want to lose any functionality from the movies. This will be my Movie library. I might get a PS3 for the Living Room to do the same thing.

The best free program, I used to use it back when I bought DVDs, as a backup tool is ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=screenshots), it can rip the entire DVD with full menus etc. An exact copy. Their download page: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download. Granted, it's from 2013 but it should work without any problems.

It would take light years to finish every DVD. Fuck it, I'll just use the hard copy until I find a quicker way. The XBOX won't load an ISO unless I hack it with the JTAG chip.

Be that as it may, I would still recommend you to do it. Years ago, I said the exact same thing and lost ALL my DVDs. You never know what is planned for you in the future, better be prepared! I still regret that I didn't back them up.

You are right, DVDs will be obsolete soon but to have a digital copy would be excellent. The only thing that sucks it having to convert them from a dump to AVI, MP4 etc.......

Yeah. Hm, if you rip them as .ISO, VLC can play them without issues. You could get one of those $100 mini PCs, plug into HDMI port and you got a full computer connected to TV, like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MeeGoPad-T02-Wi ... ifi-HDMI-/ and you are all set!  I'm going to get one of those myself but waiting for a Windows 10 version before I buy it.

^P.C your calculation is wrong!

1000 DVD movies it's about ~4.5TB

so, you need 6TB Hard Drive.

If you want to shrink 'em, here is some software:

A couple hundred are kids movies which I won't be adding. Thanks for the links, I'll check them out over the weekend. Do you have any experience with them?

Yes, and my favorite is "ImTOO Video Converter" because it can use GPUs to accelerate encoding.

I have decided not to rip the movies after all because with the services I have combined, 1/3 is already streamable. I can't use HBO Now or Showtime Anytime, my list is has been revised. I might add a couple more services. Netflix has a lot of shitty movies. When a user VPN netflix, they get more content thats not provided in their country.

Amazon Video
Crackle
FrightPix
Hulu Plus
Netflix
Popcornflix
SnagXtreme
Tubi TV

Did you guys know that when you use netflix on different devices, some of the content is different regardless of the subscription? Example: If I login netflix on apple tv, I get all the seasons of Roseanne and if I log on with xbox I only get one season. Corporations are always fucking their customers. Its the same with movies.
