Please delete my account because for personal reasons, I will not be able to be online for a long long long while. :neutral: :cry:

I have always enjoyed this place and thank you all for giving me a home.

Take care everyone.

Hi,

I just joined after seeing some of your hard-hitting stuff on Windows 8 and 10. :thumbup:

Odd thing is, before signing up I could read the "Fool's design editorials" section just fine, but now that I registered, when I try going there all I get is "You are not authorised to read this forum." :???:

So, non-members have more rights here than members? How does that work?

Unless I've run into some kind of bug, I'm sure there's a good explanation for it.

Thanks, and good luck!

@SimpleSimon,

First of all, welcome aboard!

About your error report, thank you very much, we appreciate it!

Members and non-members have basically the same access. Non-members can fully use our forums to post and even upload files because we hate to have "dead forum accounts" in here. You don't need to create an account to post something or read or download files. Your account will be deleted if not used in roughly 120 days. You can read more about our rules here »

It is a strange bug in phpBB which makes that specific forum lose permissions, randomly and sometimes only. The permissions should now work correctly. Hopefully, the random bug won't be seen again in a while. :neutral:

This random bug is because we use the same database for two different domains: foolsdesign.org and http://www.techtalk.cc. Feel free to check out http://www.TechTalk.cc as well. It is purely aimed at technology talk and nothing else. Both domains share "The lounge", however. (Your account works in both domains)

By the way, I moved your post to our help and support thread.

Ps. Don't forget to reply to the activation email which you have received by email. Failing to reply will result in deletion of your account. Of course, none of your posts will be deleted. We don't do that in here. :shh:

We will be activating encryption on our server storage. Expect a few hours of downtime or at least a few reboots.

:idea:
The storage encryption is now online and working. There shouldn't be any more significant downtime. :thumbup:
