I meant "extending beyond the height"...

Don't know if it's possible, but might be nice to somehow tie it to the height of the listing or thread that it's beside.

If some clarification is needed on that:

It would short on the main page, but longer in a thread that has a bunch of response. Make sense?

Is it possible to add all new posts. Whenever someone's reading, they would know somebody responded.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Always appreciated.

@Steven W,

I see what you mean now. Hm, yeah I think it's possible to cut down the number of news blocks shown on the front page but we got some plans for the empty space on bottom of the front page so I will wait a while to see if those plans go anywhere but I will definitely ponder on this. It is functional with a long list but it would probably look better and feel more "natural" if the front page has a shorter news block items.

@PROBLEMCHYLD,

I am guessing that you mean like some kind of live box which shows the short version of latest posts? Maybe which thread and the nickname? Similar to the news row but with the latest posts perhaps?

Come to think of it, the guys at http://www.ParanormalStories.com have such function. One can see the latest posts on their front page. The problem is if a thread gets 20-30 posts... then it would spam that box pretty heavily. If several threads are going on and active, the latest posts box would kind'a be messy but hm... let me sleep on it a few nights and see what I can come up with.

Regarding the possible or not, I think most things we wish are possible because I got full access to the server, to the source code and the SQL database server. (Thanks to the folks at Paranormal Stories) Now, if only I could get paid doing this. :shh: :mrgreen:

I altered the CSS file a little. Now the user can see which news block is visited.

That read marking color is not database driven so if you clear the history, they will reset again but I reckon, it's good enough. No need to make it too complicated. :shh:

@Steven W,
You were right. I added a title for the news and it looks much better.

@PROBLEMCHYLD,

Here you go! :wave: The unread posts now pop out and are shown in the front page. The boxes will disappear once you have read them. Of course, this is only visible if you are logged in as a member. :relaxed:

The unread posts now pop out and are shown in the front page everywhere on the bottom of the pages.
