Damn, I didn't know reddit founder hung himself!
Never cared about digg or reddit or any of those things anyway. The whole reason I liked computers was that I could feel free in my own computer. Put my files and stuff in it the way I like it and program and build stuff for myself. I really liked forums but I was kicked and banned always everywhere just because I didn't agree with many of their stupidity, about tech stuff, mind you. I had enough one day and started to create my own web site forum. This is years ago. It became huge, thousands used it everyday, that's how I started to need my own dedicated server. I had another non tech site, very big as well. This is almost 20 years ago. I took a big loan (for that time) of $5000 to buy my server. Dual Xeon. Paid so much every month. Paid so much, so much, so much out of my own pocket. A 100mb line that time was a big expensive thing. As time passes by, I got tired. One night, I took it all down because no one, not a single of these thousands donated even $1 to me. Thousands were shocked.
Years passed by and I felt ok, let's try again when I got banned AFTER giving money to MSFN, WITHOUT even a refund, which I did with fool's design then added techtalk on top of it... but it was too late. The Internet had died already after around 2012 so this place never took off.
In all these years, 20 years, the only person who ever donated money to me, is your Steven W.
My forums, were of course, like this, never banned people for talking, always very open and friendly.
I got account on Twitter, to read and I tried a while to talk and post stuff but it is not possible. They ban and block and shadow ban left and right. Everyone and everything. People responded to me but it was invisible. I didn't even see their replies. On top of Twitter's insanity, we have the people's insanity. Imagine all those moderators who love kicking and banning people. Now EVERYONE can feel like a big shot moderator. You can't even speak two words, civil or not, people block you very fast if you say one little words the they don't like it disagree with.
They all live in their own little bubbles now. The more followers they have, the worse they are. It's very disgusting and a very filthy vibe over there. It's like everyone with an IQ of a potato have gathered.
Nothing new under the Sun, however. It was the same when in IRC times, I got kicked and banned left and right in channels and networks. I had my own IRC server a while. Before that, it was BBS. They were a little more civil but still the BBS owners were on power trips a lot.
There is no elasticity in their moods at all. Frankly, most of the moderators that I have encountered are borderline psychotic in my humble opinion. 
You say one little thing and they fly off the handle on a banning and deleting spree.
