Dear God, Microsoft! Bring this to Edge on other Platforms and please don't cheap out with the voice software! It's kinda there on Linux, but the Read aloud feature doesn't work.

Ain't the Devil always in the details. The really good text-to-speech voices are being handled through a online/cloud-based mechanism.

On Windows, you can still select the "local" ones (they're not labeled "online"), they're decent but those 'natural' (all online) voices are the best TTS voices I've ever heard. I'm hoping that if the export this feature to other platforms, they'll at least offer up a subset of their speech API, so that users will at least have the option of not using the cloud-based TTS. I have my doubts Microsoft will go that far though.

Of course the voices are 'online'. It works well (it really does), still it would be nice to have a few 'offline' choices.

I tried this last night, didn't realize I needed to reboot in order for the voices to work...

On Windows, you can highlight some text and choose read from here. Seems to be MIA in Linux.
