This, in my opinion, is pretty decent idea:

Longtime TechCrunch Disrupt NY hackathon participants, Kay Anar and Gilad Shai showed off their hardware hack today called the "oRouter" - a Linux-powered, Raspberry Pi-like computer offering secure Wi-Fi access via the Tor network. The idea is to offer an affordable alternative to downloading the Tor software to your computer, as well as a way to more easily connect to Tor over mobile devices like an iPhone.

I don't think I have ever tried Tor. There is something about Tor that just rubs me the wrong way. The idea that it shares stuff / data, which I have no clue what they are, from out of my connection. Maybe I'm too much of a chicken shit but it scares me too much to be able to use it.

I think I know what you mean and you may have misconception about it. You have an option of whether or not your machine is an exit node, at least in the versions I've tried out. Living in the States, I certainly would refrain from doing so.
