I just use LibreOffice or Google Docs, as MS Office seems almost completely irrelevant to me these days. How many registry keys does MS Office install, about 4K? Good luck ever completely removing it; no wonder why Windows needs to be wiped every so often. As far as cars with GPS, my car doesn't have it and I wouldn't get one with it. It does have a PCM, though, and in an accident that could be used to gather data. But I don't really care too much about that.

I use credit too, as I don't like carrying cash around for all the same reasons listed, as well as because if I lose my wallet, no harm done.

Microsoft offers more publishing control to Windows 8 app developers.

We've now given you the ability to remove your app's listing from the Windows Store at any time just by clicking "Remove this app's listing" in the Manage availability section of the App details page in your Dashboard. You can later click "Restore this app's listing" if you decide to make the app available again.

"More publishing control"? LOL! What a joke. How about, I DON'T use the Orwellian store and I use my own Web site! No need to ask permission from "nanny" Microsoft. No need to give them 30% of my cut... and ah yeah, FULL CONTROL OF MY OWN SOFTWARE. ;)

In short, MICROSOFT CAN STILL FUCK OFF!

All of these centralized and big brother Orwellian stores are for your own protection, of course!

Why would you need to distribute your own software, on your own terms anyway? Why wouldn't you want to ask for permission from the big boys to give a copy of your software to someone? Why wouldn't you want to give out 30% of your profit to them? Why wouldn't you allow them to remotely remove your software from all computers when they feel like it?

Bow down now! Bow down and kneel to Google, Microsoft and Apple! Welcome to the invisible prison, welcome to feudalism, welcome to the machine!

Microsoft removes blog post on 'BootyBay' sideloading project.

The blog post said that this proof of concept was designed for businesses who cannot access the current sideloading solutions Microsoft offers via System Center or Windows Intune. The team even uploaded an alpha version of "BootyBay" to Codeplex, which included a Windows 8 app that acts as a private Windows Store, a desktop application that serves as a "Store Agent" and an ASP.Net MVC app that's made to be a store server.

Sounds good, doesn't it? Apparently it was too good for Microsoft as both the blog post and the Codeplex alpha code have now both been removed. A spokesperson repeated the current Windows 8 app sideloading solutions to ZDNet but would not comment if the company has plans to make those features easier, and cheaper, to access. Perhaps more information will be revealed at BUILD 2014 in April.

Filthy bastards.

Another moronic commercial brainwashing article about how everyone should learn how to code. *lol*

Should everybody learn to code?

They are desperate to con new people into the game because true oldschool coders like and are used to the freedom of having full control over their own applications, distribution and profit. This time around, all locked-in Orwellian "stores", however.

There is also the aspect of wage dumping. The more coders, the lower your wage will be.

Good news is that not a huge number of population likes to code. All of these attempts at attracting "new coders" seem to have failed. Programming is a hard work done with an undeservedly low wage and usually for the ungrateful fools in the corporate ladder.

Let them eat cake!

Humanity, get off your knees! :x

Virtual boss keeps workers slaves on a short leash.

Hitachi has created a 'perfect virtual boss' The company is manufacturing and selling a device intended to increase efficiency in the workplace called the Hitachi Business Microscope (paywalled). 'The device looks like an employee ID badge that most companies issue. Workers are instructed to wear it in the office. Embedded inside each badge, according to Hitachi, are "infrared sensors, an accelerometer, a microphone sensor and a wireless communication device." Hitachi says that the badges record and transmit to management "who talks to whom, how often, where and how energetically." It tracks everything. If you get up to walk around the office a lot, the badge sends information to management about how often you do it, and where you go. If you stop to talk with people throughout the day, the badge transmits who you're talking to (by reading your co-workers' badges), and for how long. Do you contribute at meetings, or just sit there? Either way, the badge tells your bosses.'
