I swear, in some instances it looks as though Debbie Harry has strings in her mouth.

Okay, I'm not imagining this. It's some sort of bizarre interaction of the light, likely the video source quality and YT's upscaling. Look IN her mouth:

Well, it's not only the mouth that's getting fucked up.

It looks to me as though where the hair and eyes meet and/or don't has some issues too. It's just kinda bad.

Her whole face seems to have been brightened too, almost to the point that some of the detail (at least as far as color goes) is washed out.

Holy hell, look at the images above 360p_2.png, and 1080p_2.png. Look @ the guitarist (I'm assuming it's Gary Lachman [aka Gary Valentine]), anyway, check his nose.

That upscaling is all kinds of awful when you start paying attention to it. I suspect the original upload was at 360 line, I don't know whether interlaced or progressive...

Heh, I know what you mean. I remember reading an article about how some of the soap operas had to upgrade their sets when they began transmitting in digital (1080 lines vs the NTSC 480/483 line [yes, the original standard was 483 lines]) because the could no longer get away with some of the cheap sets (things like cardboard bookshelves) they had been using. Please, don't make me go down the rabbit hole of analog vidya standards...

Oh yeah. What I was getting at -- There's definitely something to be said for the old soft vid and warm glow of a CRT.
