Taking a moment to observe and reflect and think. I suppose bullshit and yabber too.
It's kinda incredible to see the number of artists/musicians that have parked songs and videos on Youtube. I was looking at some of the stuff I posted here before. That Steve Earle song,
Copperhead Road, always kinda spoke to me. I found just the song, not the 'official vidya':
Obviously this has better audio. It's amusing to think how hard the music industry fought stuff like Napster and all that just a little over two decades ago. And now...
Anyway, back to the song (a portion of it anyway):
I volunteered for the Army on my birthday
They draft the white trash first around here anyway
I done two tours of duty in Vietnam
I came home with a brand new plan
I'd take the seed from Colombia and Mexico
I'd just plant it up the holler down Copperhead Road
And now the D.E.A's got a chopper in the air
I wake up screaming like I'm back over there
I learned a thing or two from Charlie, don't you know
You better stay away from Copperhead Road
Kids today will likely never have the joy of traipsing through the forest, in the middle of nowhere, perhaps coming to the edge of a cornfield, almost offing themselves by nearly walking into something that one of those Vietnam vets learned to setup from Charlie and realizing that they better turn around and try to retrace their path as closely as possible. The experience does result in a good bit of 'growing up' and learning.
