SYMPTOMS
Some computers may stop responding (hang) when loading MSHBIOS, a component of the Far East version of Windows that enables users to enter double-byte character set (DBCS) characters in an MS-DOS prompt window.
CAUSE
Some newer video basic input/output systems (BIOS) may require more stack space than MSHBIOS provides. Video interrupts may then cause Windows to hang.
RESOLUTION
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.

Also not the file 'mshbios.com' has a file size of 58,480 bytes.This problem has been observed on a limited number of computer models, all of which are available with the update that this article describes pre-installed.

Some Sony VAIO laptops would have had to have this file for the Emergency Boot Disk to work. I'm assuming this *mostly* would have been for WinME.The startup disk that was created cannot boot the VAIO computer.
