Have you ever found something really badly designed? Something which obscurity of its functions makes it hard to understand its use? Something almost unusable to a point it would drive you mad using it too often? Perhaps, a fool's design? Then you have come to the right place. Post your findings here and help making the world a saner place.

http://www.zdnet.com/will-90-percent-of ... 000012348/

This fucking idiot! After going through how wonderful he finds Windows 8, he goes on to mention what he read are categories of technology users:
A tiny percentage (say one percent) of users are experts, with a high tolerance for learning.
A few more (say nine percent) of users are willing adopters - they have an expectation that the product will meet their needs, and some (albeit low) tolerance for learning.
The remaining 90 percent of users just use technology to get a job done and have no tolerance for learning at all. These are mainstreamers.
Much like your shit, Matt Baxter-Reynolds, just because some asswipe wrote it doesn't make it so. By the way, how '90s of you to have two last names, fucking douchebag. I can honestly say that I'm willing to learn how to use a different operating system, but I do expect it not to limit me in the ways that Microsoft is attempting. In fact I've been so disgusted with the direction Microsoft has been taking for quite some time, I've been trying several Desktop Environments on various Linux distributions for some time.

He then mentions his father being floored when double clicking a photo in email opens a Metro-style photo viewer and takes over his whole screen and his father can't figure out how to get out of it.

All that's happened to him is that Microsoft and I have colluded to take away a computer that worked and replace it with one that doesn't. That, dear reader, is where my guilt came from.

You and Microsoft have colluded to do more than that, Mr. Matt Baxter-Reynolds. You have colluded to take away usability, functionality, to limit end-user to a specified number of "apps" on the screen, to attempt to force us to use an Operating system that is not really designed for a keyboard and mouse. Yes, I do realize that I can get to a "desktop" and run as-you-put-it "normal desktop apps", but how long do you think it'll be before this functionality won't be supported by Microsoft any longer? How long will it be before Windows users are forced to buy all "apps" from the Windows Store and all those "app" developers are forced to donate a percentage of profits to Microsoft? That will be the end result of your shilling for Microsoft. Your shameless shilling is where the guilt should come from.

As to the example you gave regarding your father, perhaps the question you should be asking yourself is, in whose universe is a image viewer supposed to claim all the monitor's real estate on a fucking desktop computer.

As to Windows, Microsoft and all their other products, the geeks either have or are in the process of moving on. It's only idiots like you who are impressed with huge rectangles and squares on a computer monitor that are clinging on. One more thing, Mr. Matt Baxter-Reynolds, as to your mentioning your nine month old son in your article, no one is impressed with your fecundity. Cockroaches have been reproducing for millions of years.

Are the almost 500 comments on that article going to change a thing? Nope. Is his article changing anything? Nope. Is it worth wasting the time out of my day to give two shits about another Windows 8 article? Nope!

I'm seeing more and more of these absolutely worthless fucking articles on so-called technology sites. It must be wonderful to espouse nonsense all the fucking time and get paid for it. Take for example his list that he borrowed from someone else (probably because there isn't an original thought in his head), it's essentially name-calling. The thought doesn't even occur to him that there could possibly be any legitimate reason to criticize the direction that Microsoft has chosen to take. These folks live in the everything-new-is-wonderful world. They believe that everything everyone does is fascinating. I suppose that explains the popularity of Facebook. Un-fucking-believable. Frankly, jerking off to porn would have been less of a waste of time than reading Baxter-Reynolds.

Well one good option to counter that is for a blog site to be started, preferably using WordPress. If everyone on here collaborated and started writing articles, it could be the antithesis to your favorite writers. I'd be in, but my plate is full, so I'd have to work around my existing schedule.

Yes but why start a separate "blog" using WordPress at all? Why not use this existing place, techtalk.cc? :relaxed: All we need is a new section if such articles start to pile up.

Muahahaha! One of the comments on the article:

No, it's gesture based UI
Where the touch gesture and mouse gesture pretty much mirror each other. You don't need BOTH keyboard and mouse to close the app if you do not have touch, it's one or the other. Which is the same as the non-touch OSes that came before.

What's different now is that you gesture rather than click. And that does take getting used to, I will admit. And I would say that perhaps one of the tweaks MS should strongly consider for a service pack is to allow for a click-based way to close Metro apps. For example if a mouse is detected, an X appears on the upper right when there is mouse movement and disappears 1 or 2 seconds after movement stops. I would still keep the gesture for touch based computing only because it would be too easy to accidentally touch the X.

Well, here's a gesture for you:

Don't confuse this one with "gesture", it's what the commenter is:
