Unfortunately not. It won't allow the range to be altered.
Also upon re-reading the docs for rloew's patch, it's not Gigabyte the brand but gigabit, as in gigabit network controllers in general.
The controller on this board is a bog standard Intel Gigabit controller, so this issue may be more widespread than I thought.

Looks like I have to correct myself once more. The Intel controller is what the VM emulates, not the real hardware I'm having issues with. Not sure how I managed to mix those up.
The hardware network controller is instead a Realtek 8168 Gbit interface, but still also very common. It takes the address range F9000000-F9000FFF and this range can't be changed. It's not a big range at all but it's right smack in the middle of where Win98 can't ordinarily cope with it.

Imagine if the source code of "SPLIT8MB.EXE" was available. You could have been putting it inside your patch. It could extract that and adjust the .INI files needed.
But that source code is probably not open... if you know what I mean...

Nop, it is not open source.
I know what you mean, but i don't want to mess with it! Because i don't want any troubles!

This is why making even small projects open source is very good. (unless you earn money from them)

I'll give it a try if I can find it. I only found out about this recently so it seems the version I have is 7.01 and does not include that file.
