I know this is not really a logical spot to ask this question but I'm looking for CURRENT Windows 98 users & wondering what they use for antivirus programs. I still have a customer that has to use Windows 98 computers & I'm having trouble finding an antivirus program that still works with Windows 98. Can you help me please? In the past I used Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition version 9 but recently I can't seem to get it to work.

Thanks for the quick response. I have installed Solo & it seems to work very well. In fact, a little too well. Now I need to figure out how to add an exception to Solo for UltraVNC 1.0.2. I submitted a question on this to Solo tech support but I will continue to look myself also.

Haven't heard from Solo tech support yet but I'll keep pressing... gently. Will also continue to look for the solution myself.

Does anyone know of another antivirus program that supports 98?
Solo Antivirus doesn't appear to be working out. I still haven't heard from tech support & I've looked extensively for a way to exclude files or folders from the scan. The only control over what is scanned that I see is on the extension. I will try emailing tech support again & see what happens.

TeDDy
kASPERSKY Antivirus or internet security 6.
Worked for me at that time. The problems... the updates get broken sometimes... bus can be fixed.
A valid license... since no support from producer... You can find a permanent "medicine" for this (there is ONE!)
Try first on a Virtual Machine!

I have not actually used any anti-virus software for over 6 years now on my main 98 machine. I haven't caught anything nasty either but probably because I tend to keep awap from the darker corners of the internet.
I have couple of Norton 2004 and 2005 licenses, and periodically I go out and grab latest definitions which I copy over to the "NAVDOS" component of Norton 2005 so I can do some offline scans in a pure DOS environment every once in a while. I also used to scan my HDDs with latest and greatest NOD32 on a WinXP machine.
I don't really think realtime protection is necessary, but some files scan is always welcome every once in a while.

Would you believe that Avast 4.8 can still work? You'll have to download the update below (from Avast's website). I just downloaded and registered it for a year.
http://www.filehippo.com/download_avast_antivirus/6635/ (Click download this version, in right-hand corner)
http://www.avast.com/download-update
Get the one labeled for Avast! 4.8. I'm thinking it may auto-update after installing this.
