Wow, you crazy fuck! (I mean that in a good way :smile: :relaxed:) That's just amazing you got it to work on Win98! HAHA... Hm, I wonder maybe that's why the link is dead. You posted it on MSFN and Microsoft removed the link.

Try this place, maybe it's there: http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microso ... e/search?f[0].Type=Affiliation&f[0].Value=DevLabs&f[0].Text=Microsoft%20DevLabs (http://visualstudiogallery.msdn.microso ... e/search?f[0].Type=Affiliation&f[0].Value=DevLabs&f[0].Text=Microsoft%20DevLabs). I couldn't find it myself but maybe you know what to search for.

Although, I don't think you can ever run C# on it because C# needs .NET so unless you can get .NET running on Win98, I doubt it will be possible at all. :think:

Well, Vb2005 also needs .NET Framework...

This Version(s) of .NET Framework works on Win98
.NET 1.0
.NET 1.1
.NET 2.0 Beta 1 (v2.0.40607) MS removed web page and file but it is saved on webarchive.
.NET 2.0 Final (v2.0.50727) MS removed web page for this too but the file is still there...

I found Chinese version of Visual Studio 2005 Express Beta 2 but it can not be installed on Win98
also Final version of Visual Studio 2005 Express can not be installed on Win98.

Sorry, should've read closer. Anyway, did you have to do anything special to install it?

I can't find it but why the BETA 1? I mean, the full version of express (none beta) doesn't work I guess?

Weird. I wonder why. :think:

First reason -> It needs MSI v3.0 <-> Windows Installer v3.0, MSI 3.0 doesn't work on Win98.

Second reason-> can't be deiscovered because it can't be installed :smile:

I see. Sometimes, you can just install an application on a newer Windows version and then move the files over to another system. Some DLLs might need to be registered with "regsvr32" and maybe one could check which stuff is new in the registry or something.

Just a thought but maybe not worth the effort. :smile:
