I grabbed a PCIe to PCI x 2 adapter also, I'm going to try PCI passthrough in ESXi and see if I can get Window98 to read a PCI USB card at the least. Also grabbed a PCIe 6600GT which supposedly works. Haven't gotten around to testing it yet.

No luck with the 6600, using the 83 driver. It finds the card but won't load it.
I am starting to see some YouTube videos and forums popping up with people having success with passthrough, might switch to Linux/Qemu and try again. ESXi support for 98 isn't great anymore.

He seem's to have problems installing the unofficial SP 3.66 (Freezes when he tries to install the Main Updates). Some people in the comment's said that the antivirus (Norton Antivirus 2000) is the one causing issues. Do you think that's true?

Do you think it's better to install the USP on a clean install? The dude from the video said that he even had issues when installing it on a clean install.

I tried installing version 3.66 on a clean install of windows 98 (VMware)... and the installer froze !

However, when I tried installing version 3.65, everything went fine!

This might be a new bug or I'm doing something wrong?

Try killing winoldap.exe. I have this problem occasionally too.

I can confirm that the issue occurs on clean install as well. In my case, I'm trying on a Windows 98 SE OEM image from Connectix Virtual PC 4.0

People on YouTube even said older versions does this, so I'm going to assume its hardware related. There is no way I can debug this because I've never had this issue on regular hardware or qemu vm.
